The mission of the International Hunter Education Association–United States of America (IHEA–USA) is to develop safe, responsible, knowledgeable, and involved hunters by promoting hunter education.

Like the IHEA–USA, the goal of Missouri’s mandatory hunter education certification is also to produce safe, knowledgeable, responsible, and involved hunters. As a result of the state’s hunter education programs, hunting-related incidents have decreased.

Hunter education course review and summary

Responsible behavior includes being courteous, respecting others, respecting wildlife, having a positive attitude, obeying hunting laws (including no poaching), hunting fairly, practicing safety rules, and waiting for a clean and quick kill before shooting.

Responsible hunters also are involved in efforts to make hunting a respected sport through mentoring others, working with landowners, cooperating with conservation agents, and joining conservation organizations.
