Official Michigan Hunter Safety Course and Hunting License Test

Welcome to the official site for Michigan's independent study hunter education course approved by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Taking a hunting course will allow you to comply with Michigan hunter education law and will also make you a safer and more knowledgeable hunter.

It's simple! 1 - This free hunter safety course is user-friendly and self-directed. Study at your own pace!
It's fun! 2 - Take the Michigan Pre-Certification Exam. Pay $19.50—one time only, after you pass.
It's official! 3 - Print out your Pre-Certification Exam Certificate—your "admission ticket" for the Field Day required to complete your certification.

You are advised to preschedule the field day prior to completing the online course to assure availability in your area.

To preschedule the field day, visit the Michigan DNR website and use the search engine at the top of the page to find available classes in your area.
