Official Louisiana Hunter Education Course

About the Course and Hunting License Requirements

Under Louisiana hunting law, every hunter born on or after September 1, 1969, must successfully complete a hunter education course. The minimum age for certification is 10 years. A hunting license and proof of certification is required to be on your person while hunting.

 

Online Hunter Education Home Study Steps

  1. Begin the hunter safety courseStudy the online Louisiana hunter safety course.
  2. Take one or more Practice Tests as many times as you like—free of charge.
  3. Take the Louisiana Field Day Qualifier Exam for $15, collected whether you pass or fail.
  4. Print your Louisiana Field Day Qualifier Voucher, which is accepted by the state as proof of home study.
  5. Visit the Louisiana Field Day Courses web page to learn about Field Day options in your area.
  6. After successful completion of the Field Day, including a written exam, you will receive your Louisiana hunter education certification.

This course uses the same hunter education material taught in the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries classroom courses. Prepare for your Field Day with confidence!
