About the Course and Hunting License Requirements

In most states, hunters can not hunt legally unless they have had some type of hunter education. Anyone born on or after July 1, 1957 must be certified by an approved hunter education course before they can hunt in Kansas. Anyone 15 years old and under may hunt without hunter education certification if under the direct supervision of an adult 18 years old or older.

Online Hunter Education Home Study Steps

  1. Register for your Kansas Internet-assisted Course Field Day. You must be 11 years old to receive your Kansas Hunter Education Certificate.
  2. Your Field Day must take place within 90 days of completing this online course.Begin the hunter safety course
  3. Once registered for a Field Day, study the online Kansas Hunter Education course.
  4. Take the Field Day Qualifier Exam. Pay $19.50—one time only, after you pass.
  5. Print your Kansas Field Day Qualifier Exam Certificate, which is accepted by the state as proof of completion of the online course.
  6. Be sure to bring your Field Day Qualifier Exam Certificate to your Field Day.
  7. All students will be tested over the online course material. The pre-test will be administered at the beginning of the Field Day. A passing score of 22 correct answers, out of a possible 25 questions, is required to proceed with the remainder of the course. Students failing to achieve the minimum passing score of 22 will be dismissed from the class.
