1. Study & Pass the Online Course

   After passing the Iowa Hunter Safety Course, you’ll pay the $24.50 course fee and immediately print out your Field Day Voucher, which you will need for the Field Day.

   Age Requirement You must be at least 11 years old to take the online course.

2. Sign Up and Attend the Required Field Day

   To complete the hunter education requirements for Iowa, you must attend the Field Day portion of the Hunter Ed Safety Course. Learn more about the Field Day.

3. Receive Your Iowa Hunter Education Certificate

   After successfully completing the Field Day, your permanent Iowa Hunter Education Certificate will be issued to you by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

This official training program is developed to meet the standards for hunter training established by the International Hunter Education Association (IHEA).

Read each chapter. The chapters are organized to form building blocks of information. Each chapter will help you understand the information in the next chapters.

This official training program will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to be a safe and responsible hunter in Iowa.

Pass the 9 Unit Quizzes

As you progress through the course, you’ll be given the opportunity to demonstrate how well you’re understanding the hunter safety topics by taking a quiz at the end of each unit (chapter).

You’ll need to score 80% or greater on the unit quiz before moving on to the next unit.

If you don’t pass a unit quiz, that’s no problem. You can study until you feel you are ready to take the quiz again.

The Field Day Voucher

After passing all the unit quizzes with a score of 80% or greater you will have demonstrated successful mastery of the classroom portion of the Iowa hunter safety course material, you will receive your Field Day Voucher.

You will bring your Field Day Voucher to the Field Day as proof of having completed and passed the online course.
