Wearing Hunter Orange Saves
Lives!
In
a study done from 1992 through
2001 in New York
State, about
120,000 big game hunters
did not wear Hunter (or
Blaze)
Orange during the regular
firearms seasons for
deer and bear.
Of these, 18 hunters were
mistaken for big game
and killed. During
the same time period of
the study, approximately
580,000 hunters did wear
Hunter Orange, and none
were mistaken for big game
and killed.
Idaho law does not require
the wearing of Hunter Orange
but it is highly recommended.
It is a color not found
in nature and most game
animals cannot see the
bright fluorescent color
since they are colorblind.
However, hunters wearing
Hunter Orange can be easily
seen by other hunters.
