Citizens
Against Poaching
|
Idaho’s
wild game is a very important
natural resource for the state.
Poachers, who kill game illegally,
are stealing from the state’s
residents. In an effort to
reduce poaching a program
called Citizens Against Poaching
(CAP)
was started as a non-profit
corporation in December 1980
by concerned citizens under
the guidance of Idaho
Fish and Game.
Idaho’s CAP program
has been very successful.
CAP and the Department of
Fish and Game share the responsibility
for the program. Citizens,
who may remain anonymous,
are encouraged to report
poachers.

Be part of the solution—report
all poaching and wildlife
violations by calling 1-800-632-5999.
|
The department
receives and records reports of violations
through a toll-free telephone number
routes the information to conservation
officers for investigation, and arranges
for reward payments. A reward is
paid if the information is sufficient
for a citation or a warrant to be
issued. A conviction is not necessary.
Reward amounts are currently set
at: $100 for birds, fish, and general
violations; $250 for most big game
animals; $500 for trophy species
such as sheep,
goat, grizzly, moose and caribou.
To
report wildlife violations in
Idaho, call the Citizens Against
Poaching Hotline at 1-800-632-5999
