Official Colorado Hunter Education Course

About the Course and Hunting License Requirements

Under Colorado hunting law, every hunter born on or after January 1, 1949, must successfully complete a hunter education course. The minimum age for certification is 10 years. A hunting license and proof of certification is required to be on your person while hunting.

Online Hunter Education Home Study Steps

  1. Enroll in an Internet-Based Hunter Education Course.
    • Find a course. Look for courses titled INTERNET-BASED Hunter Education Course.
    • Review the information and instructions included with each course offering.
  2. Begin the hunter safety courseOnce enrolled, study the online Colorado hunter safety course.
  3. Take one or more Practice Tests as many times as you like—free of charge.
  4. Take the Colorado Online Exam for $19.50—one time only, after you pass.
  5. Print your Colorado Conclusion Class Voucher, which is accepted by the state as proof of completing the online material.
  6. Complete the course with your instructor by attending a course conclusion class.
  7. After successful completion of these steps, you will receive your Colorado hunter education certification.
