Official Arizona Hunter Education Course

About the Course and Hunting License Requirements

Welcome to the official online hunting course of the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Under Arizona hunting law, no one under the age of 14 may take big game without having completed a Hunter Education Course. To hunt big game, anyone 10 to 13 years of age must have in their possession a valid hunting license, a valid Hunter Education Course completion card, plus any required permit tags.

Bonus Points: All students, regardless of age, receive one Bonus Point for tag drawings after successfully completing an approved hunter education course. (A person can only receive one Education Bonus Point, so taking a course multiple times will not earn a student multiple Points.)

There are two study options:

Online Hunter Education Home Study Steps

  1. Study the Arizona hunter education course material.
  2. Take the Practice Test as many times as you like—free of charge—to ensure you've mastered the course material.
  3. Take the Field Day Qualification Exam. There is a $15 fee for the exam, which is collected whether you pass or fail. A score of 80% is required for passing the online exam.
  4. Upon passing the exam, you can print out your official Arizona Field Day Qualification Exam Certificate, which is accepted by the state as proof of home study. You MUST provide the field day chief instructor with your Field Day Qualification Exam Certificate in order to participate in a field day.
  5. To complete your hunter safety education, you must attend a Field Day and take a written test. Read about the Field Day requirements. Then, call the Arizona Game and Fish Department Education Branch at 623-236-7235 or 623-236-7219 to schedule a field day. Online students must have their Arizona Field Day Qualification Exam Certificate PRIOR to calling to schedule a field day.
