Alaska Hunter Field Day Information

In order to complete the hunter education requirements for Alaska, you must pass both the online and Field Day portions of the Hunter Ed Alaska Course.

Since Field Day options are limited, please check the Alaska DFG Field Day schedule to ensure that a Field Day is offered in your area before taking the online course. Field Days can fill quickly and completion of this online course does not guarantee you a spot at a Field Day.

Follow the steps below to complete the certification process.

  1. Complete the Online Course

You must complete the online course before your Field Day. Print out your official Alaska Field Day Qualifier Certificate, which is accepted by the state as proof of home study.

  2. Sign-up for a Field Day

After passing the online course, you must attend a Field Day provided by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Wait three business days after completing this course before trying to register for a Field Day to allow time for your data to be transferred to the Alaska DFG. If you provided a valid email address when you registered for this course, you will receive an email when you are clear to sign up for a Field Day. Please call 907-267-2187 if you have any questions.

Use your Field Day Qualifier Certificate number to sign up electronically by going to the Alaska Online Course Field Day Signup.

  3. Attend the Field Day

Bring your Field Day Qualifier Certificate to the Field Day. The 4-5 hour Field Day will include firearms handling, field course, a live-fire proficiency with .22 caliber rifles, and a final written test may be required by your instructor. All training materials and firearms will be provided. Upon passing all Field Day sections (field course, live-fire, and written test) you will then be issued your Alaska Hunter Education Certificate.

Each student must fill out a Student Consent Form (pdf) and present it to the instructor at your selected Field Day. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should fill it out and must sign it.
