Who Needs Hunter Education?

State Law Anyone born on or after August 1, 1977, who purchases a hunting license in the state of Alabama.

This official training program is developed to meet the standards for hunter training established by the International Hunter Education Association (IHEA).

Read each chapter. The chapters are organized to form building blocks of information. Each chapter will help you understand the information in the next chapters.

This official training program will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to be a safe and responsible hunter in Alabama.

Pass the 9 Unit Quizzes

As you progress through the course, you’ll be given the opportunity to demonstrate how well you’re understanding the hunter safety topics by taking a quiz at the end of each unit (chapter).

You’ll need to score 80% or greater on the unit quiz before moving on to the next unit.

If you don’t pass a unit quiz, that’s no problem. You can study until you feel you are ready to take the quiz again.

Pass the Final Exam

After completing all units, you’ll have the choice to proceed directly to the online Final Exam, or you may first take a practice exam.

Both the practice exam and the Final Exam cover all the course material and will assess your knowledge of hunting safely in Alabama.

You must score 70% or greater on the final exam to pass. If you fail the final exam, don’t worry; you have 2 attempts to pass the final.

After Passing the Online Course…

After passing the online course, you are required to attend the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Field Day to complete your hunter education certification.
