How much does the online hunter certification course cost? How much does the Hunter Education Certificate cost?
The online course fee is $24.50. There is no charge for the Hunter Education Certificate.
Is it safe to enter my credit card information online?
Yes. You can enter your credit card online with confidence on our secure server. This charge will appear on your credit card statement as “Safety Courses 18008302268.”
Why is there a charge to “Safety Courses 18008302268” on my credit card statement?
This is the charge for your course fee. “Safety Courses 18008302268” is what appears on your card statement.

Taking the Alabama Hunter's Ed Course

How long will it take to complete the course?
It typically takes 3–4 hours to go through the online course, excluding quizzes/tests, and any re-studying that you may choose to do.
Do I have to complete the online course all at once?
You may complete the course at your own pace. The course can be completed in one sitting or completed a little at a time over several days.
After passing the course, how long do I have to wait for my Hunter Education Certificate?
Upon passing and paying for the course, you may immediately print out a Hunter Education Certificate.
What is the minimum age to take the online course?
You must be at least 10 years old to take the online course.

Course Authority, Recognition, and State Acceptance

Is this course approved by the state of Alabama?
This course is approved by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to satisfy hunter education requirements.
Is my Alabama Hunter Education Certificate accepted in other states?
All states and provinces that have mandatory hunter education requirements will accept Alabama hunter education certifications. Likewise, Alabama will accept hunter education certifications that are issued by other states and provinces that meet official IHEA-USA requirements. (This is known as “reciprocity.”)

Unit Quizzes and Final Exam

I failed a unit quiz. Have I failed the course?
No. If you fail, you can take the unit quizzes over, but the timer will be reset. You will be required to study the unit again before retaking a quiz. You must score at least 80% on the 9 unit quizzes to pass.
Am I required to take the practice exam before taking the Final Exam?
No. After completing all units, you’ll have the choice to proceed directly to the online Final Exam, or you may first take a practice exam. Both exams cover all the course material.
What is the Final Exam?
The Final Exam is the exam you take at the end of the course. After reviewing all units, you must take and pass the Final Exam covering all the course material. You must score at least 70% on the Final Exam to pass. You have 2 attempts to pass the exam. If you do not pass it, you must pay the course fee again.
What if I fail the Final Exam?
You must score at least 70% on the Final Exam to pass. If you fail the Final Exam, you may immediately take it again.
Do I have to complete the Final Exam in one session?
No, you can log out without completing the exam. When you log in later, you will be taken to the first unanswered question of the exam.

About Your Hunter Certification

What is the Hunter Education Certificate?
After completing the course by passing and paying the course fee, you may instantly print out an Alabama Hunter Education Certificate, which serves as your permanent certificate. If you want a more durable Hunter Education Certificate, go to https://huntered.dcnr.alabama.gov/public/cardreplacement.aspx to order a new one.
When will I receive the Hunter Education Certificate?
Once you pass the course and pay the course fee, you will be able to immediately print out the Hunter Education Certificate. You can print the Hunter Education Certificate right then, and/or request that a PDF of the Hunter Education Certificate be e-mailed to you.

Replacement of Lost or Damaged Cards and Certificates

How do I replace my Hunter Education Certificate if I’ve lost it or it has been damaged?
If you want a more durable Hunter Education Certificate or if your Hunter Education Certificate is lost or destroyed, go to https://huntered.dcnr.alabama.gov/public/cardreplacement.aspx to order a new one.

Username and Password

How do I choose a username?
Sometimes, it can be difficult to find a username that has not already been taken by someone else taking the same course. Try to pick something that is easy to remember but is also unique.
I need to change my username and/or password. Where do I do this?
If you need to update your profile information or change your password, click on the View Profile link under your username in the navigation bar at the top of any web page in the course. Re-submit your revised information using the form provided.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

If you forget your password, you can reset it from the Forgot Your Password page. You will need to enter your username and the e-mail from your profile, and an e-mail containing the link to reset your password will be sent.

Logging In/Out

Do I have to complete the online course all at once?
You may complete the course at your own pace. The course can be completed in one sitting or completed a little at a time over several days.
I am afraid to log out of the course, but I don’t have all day to take it. Will I lose everything if I log out?
No, when you log out, your progress is recorded so that when you log in again, you can pick up where you left off. When logging back in, you will be taken to the Course Contents page where you can see the progress you have made. You can click on a link for the last page viewed to go back to that part of the course.
How many times may I log in and out?
You may log in and out as many times as you wish. Your progress is monitored and saved.

Troubleshooting

What does the message “Your session has expired due to inactivity” mean?
If you have not been active within the course for more than 15 minutes, you will automatically be logged out of your session. A notice stating, “Your session has expired due to inactivity.” will appear at the top of the course on a yellow background. Log back in, and you can continue interacting with the course. Your progress will have been recorded, and you should be able to continue where you left off in the course.
What happens if I get disconnected from the Internet while taking the course?
If you are disconnected from the Internet, simply log back in and pick up where you left off. Your progress in the course will be saved.
Why aren’t the animations or videos displaying?
If you are unable to view the animations or videos, make sure that Adobe Flash Player is installed on your system.
