Official Alaska Online Hunter Safety Course

Welcome to the official site for Alaska's independent study hunter education course approved by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Taking a hunting course will allow you to comply with Alaska hunter education law and will also make you a safer and more knowledgeable hunter.

It's simple! Simple and self-paced—This online hunter safety class is user-friendly and self-directed. Study as much as you need to know, as slowly or quickly as you like to learn!
It's official! When you're ready, take the official Field Day Qualifier Exam for only $15. Upon passing, you can print out your official Alaska Field Day Qualifier Certificate, which grants you admission to a Field Day.

To complete your online hunter safety education you must:

  • Use your Field Day Qualifier Certificate number to sign up electronically for a Field Day (available dates and sign-up will be on Alaska's webpage).
  • Attend 4-5 hour Field Day, including firearms handling, field course, and live-fire proficiency. (All training materials and firearms will be provided by the state agency.)
  • You have one year (after passing the Field Day Qualifier Exam) to attend a Field Day.
  • Take a written test at your Field Day.
